Industrial automation systems and integration — Open technical dictionaries and their application to master data — Part 14: Dictionary query interface

1 Scope

This part of ISO 22745 is a specialization of ISO/TS 29002-20 that specifies an interface to retrieve information from an open technical dictionary (OTD). The interface can be used to retrieve terminology information and to search for concepts.

NOTE 1  The interface is specified in ISO/TS 29002-20 as a set of concept dictionary resolution services (CDRS). The services are specified abstractly so that multiple bindings can be defined. A Web Services Definition Language (WSDL) Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP) binding, which all CDRS implementations are required to support, is included in this part of ISO 22745.

The following are within the scope of this part of ISO 22745:

• specification of a mechanism to retrieve the terminology associated with a concept and other objects from the terminology reference model, given the identifier of the concept or object;

• specification of a mechanism to search for concepts and other objects from the terminology reference model, using a set of search patterns and parameters;

• Web Services Definition Language (WSDL) Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP) binding of the specified services.

NOTE 2  The mechanisms listed above are defined in ISO/TS 29002-20 and referenced with constraints in this part of ISO 22745.

The following is outside the scope of this part of ISO 22745:

• specification of a mechanism to resolve a unique concept identifier to its service provider;

  specification of a mechanism to retrieve ontology information.
